About
The Table has been set. Candles and good music have set the mood. The aroma of delectable food is noticeable. Tired, isolated, and hungry folks are arriving. They've accepted the invitation. Their glasses are filled as they sit down with a sigh of relief. Together, we will feast on our laughter and care, on great food and drink, and on the Lord’s presence. This table symbolizes the kingdom of God and is the vision God has given us for our faith community. But, it is also a reality of how Christ is now moving in Bellingham.
We're here to love Jesus and serve Bellingham. Here's What to Expect at The Table.
Practicing Hospitality, Discipleship, and Blessing in the Name of Jesus
The Table is a name that speaks of rich relationships and friendship. A table is a place of connection between new friends … a table of hospitality. A table is where Christ invited people into greater fellowship with God … a table of discipleship. A table is where the hungry are fed, physically and spiritually … a table of blessing. These are our values. We call them Our Rhythms.
Living as a Missional Faith Community
The Table is a missional faith community. Missional is a term that describes a paradigm of church, where we live out our faith with our neighbors. Rather than calling out from the inside of a church building for people to come in, the missional church goes out on mission to live alongside other people, whatever their background may be.
Being a Faith community is what separates us from a civic organization or a book club. We unashamedly pursue Jesus Christ as we live out our calling in community.
In a culture that markets primarily to the desires of individuals, Community is a contrast. Despite our differences, The Table is becoming a family, where we laugh and share challenges together. We are sharing a life defined by the alternative values of Christ.
We Live as a Family, Connected to a Larger Family
We at The Table believe in “the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,” and walk with all who desire Jesus’ kingdom to come and his will to be done. Specifically, The Table is blessed to be a part of a binational family of churches called the Christian Reformed Church (see Our Beliefs). Locally, The Table is in direct partnership with several churches throughout the county (see Our Partners).
